This page explains what personal information WebCentersUSA collects through this website, why we collect it, who else sees it, and how long we keep it.
1. Who we are
WebCentersUSA — Serving Michigan for 16 years
Email: info@webcentersusa.com
We design, build, host and maintain websites for other businesses. This policy covers this website. When we run a website for a client, that site carries its own privacy policy describing what it collects, and the client is responsible for it.
2. Information you give us
There are four forms on this site.
Contact form
Your name, phone number, email address, company and your message.
Site change request
For clients asking us to change something on a site we maintain: your name, the website it concerns, your email address, an optional phone number, your message, and up to three images — usually screenshots showing us what needs changing.
Please look at a screenshot before you attach it. Anything visible in the picture comes to us with it, so crop out anything you would rather we did not see.
Book a call
Your name, phone number, email address, the day and time you would like us to call, and an optional note. We use it to make that one call and to confirm the time by email.
Referral form
On the Referral Program page: your name, email address and an optional phone number, plus the business you are referring, an optional contact name there, how to reach them, and any notes. Only give us someone else's details if you are comfortable with us contacting them and saying you sent us.
We collect all of this only because you chose to send it. You do not need an account to use this site, and we do not buy contact information from anyone else.
3. Information collected automatically
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit, which pages they read, and where they arrived from. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and receives your IP address, your approximate location (usually city level), your browser and device type, and the pages you view.
We also record that a form was successfully sent, as a count. That record contains no name, email address, phone number, message text or image — only that a submission happened, so we can tell which pages bring us enquiries.
Google's own handling of this is described in Google's Privacy Policy. You can stop Google Analytics collecting your visit with Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.
Everything else this page needs — its typefaces, images, styles and scripts — is served from this website itself, so no other company sees your visit because of them.
This site also sets two small cookies of its own on every visit: webcentersusa-session,
a session cookie that lets the site tell one visit apart from the next while you move between
pages, and XSRF-TOKEN, a security cookie the forms on this site use to check that a submission
really came from this site. Both are created by the software the site runs on, hold a random
code rather than anything about you, are sent only to this website, and expire
120 minutes after your last page view. If you block them, every
page still reads normally, but the forms will not send.
Our web host also keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses and requested pages. These are ordinary hosting records used for security and troubleshooting.
4. Website snapshots
Some pages on this site are snapshots we prepare about a business's public website and send to that business. Each snapshot link is unique to the person we sent it to, so we can tell when it has been opened. Snapshot pages are not indexed, not linked from anywhere on this site, and are removed 90 days after we make them. Email info@webcentersusa.com if you would like yours taken down sooner.
5. What we do with it
We use what you send to answer your enquiry, quote and carry out the design, hosting or maintenance work you ask about, and keep a record of our correspondence. We use the analytics data to improve this website.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to send you marketing you did not ask for.
6. Who else sees it
A submission on this site stays with us. It reaches three places, all ours:
- Our mailbox — the message is emailed to info@webcentersusa.com, with any attached images.
- Our submissions archive — a blind copy goes to
submissions@webcentersusa.com, an address we keep as an independent record so that a message which fails to reach the main mailbox can still be found and answered. This is the same archive every site we build copies to, and it is ours; no outside company receives it. - This website's server — a one-line record of each submission is written to a log file, described in section 6.
Beyond that, we disclose personal information only where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect our rights or someone's safety.
7. How long we keep it
- Submission log on the server — 365 days. Entries older than a year are deleted automatically.
- Emails and the archive copy — kept while they are useful for the business relationship, then deleted.
- Google Analytics — retained under the period set in our Analytics property. That data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.
Project files, invoices and the material clients send us for their own websites are business records kept separately from this website, under our normal retention practice and whatever the client agreement says.
8. Your choices
You can ask us to send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, or delete it. Email info@webcentersusa.com and we will respond.
Deleting the log entry and the emailed copies removes our record of your enquiry, so we may not be able to continue a conversation already in progress. We will say so if that applies.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking cookies stops Google Analytics recognising your visit. It also stops the forms sending, because they rely on the security cookie described in section 3. Every other page reads normally.
9. Children
This site is aimed at businesses, not children, and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email info@webcentersusa.com and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how we collect or use personal information, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top.
